For this issue’s High Rotation, we thought we’d do something a little different, and we asked smooth jazz legend Kenny G if he could put together a Smooth Jazz playlist that would make you want to cave your own head in with a can of spaghetti.
Just kidding. Can you imagine? No, what we really did was hit up Scowl lead singer Kat Moss for her all-time favorite punk tunes. Scowl is a Santa Cruz band that formed in 2019 and quickly began kicking ass in the hardcore scene. They’ve shared the stage with groups like Circle Jerks, Touché Amoré, and our old buddies Speed, and they’ve just released their second LP, Are We All Angels, which sees them move toward a more melodic, pop-punk sound while examining their meteoric success and delving into what the NME calls themes of ‘alienation, grief, and a loss of control.’ Heavy. But also awesome! Give the new record a listen—and definitely catch these guys live if you can—but first, check out Kat’s punk playlist and put down that can of spaghetti.
