For this issue’s High Rotation, we decided to do something different and feature someone who does not run but mostly walks or rides a bicycle. In fact, he's someone who refuses to run but is quite happy to strap his feet to a snowboard and go down a mountain that way. He's a special someone we’ve known and loved for as long as we can remember, a big handsome someone named Peter Sutherland.
That’s Peter in the above photo. It was taken about three days before his chin disappeared forever beneath a beard the size of a teenage fox. We chose to run this picture because it’s so weird to see him not looking like a roadie for ZZ Top. But enough about Peter’s beard—what about him?
Peter is an American photographer, filmmaker, and artist who made his name in New York City from the late 90s all the way through to Covid. He currently resides in Colorado, which is where he grew up and why he should (and still could) be a diehard trail runner. We asked Peter to select some tunes for you to listen to on your next sesh.
