Phone it in

Andrew Glaze

This is Phone It In, the department where we send a shot list to someone, and then they send the photos back with little captions explaining what we’re looking at. In this issue, we’re featuring one of the biggest running obsessives the world has ever known: Andrew Glaze.

There’s a good chance you already know Andrew from Instagram. He is nuts about running. He’s also a fireman. In fact, he’s the Battalion Chief of The La Verne Fire Department in Southern California. Like all firemen, Andrew works hard—really hard—but he works even harder than your average smoke-eater because when he’s not barrelling into towering infernos or bathing Dalmatians with his shirt off for charity, he’s running ultras. Lots and lots of ultras.

We sent Andrew some prompts. Here’s what he sent back.

Your Proudest Moment

When my son was born. He is 13 now. The teenage years are not for the faint of heart.
